Pilli Pipa have three traditional Arab dhows. Guests are separated between boats for maximum comfort and individual attention. All three boats have licences and insurance and satisfy British health and safety standards, checked by leading tour companies. They have flushing toilets, sun shades and rain canopies.
Pilli Pipa
This is the first dhow that the company started with. She is 35ft, built in Tanga from teak wood. She has a 3 cylinder 36hp inboard Bukh engine. The engine is very reliable. Pilli Pipa has a sleeping area where guests can be lulled to sleep by the gentle rocking of the sea after snorkelling.
Monsoon
Monsoon is our newest boat, built only 6 years ago here in Shimoni. She is the first dhow to be built in the area. Dhows like her are normally built in Mombasa, Lamu or in Tanzania. We are very proud about that. She has a 4 cylinder 65hp inboard Duetch engine. Monsoon is very spacious and has also a unique sun deck where guests can relax and take in the sun.
Al- Ikhalas
Which means purity, has completely renovated. Her 65hp outboard Yamaha engine is perfect to get you to those slightly further dive sites. To fit in with the rest of the Pilli Pipa fleet she also has a sun deck which can be conveniently converted to a diving rack when divers are on board.
