Pilli Pipa is the only dhow operator taking such small numbers to Kisite Marine Park and has therefore built an excellent reputation for PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICE. We welcome NON SWIMMERS, BEGINNERS and the EXPERIENCED.
Your day will begin with a pick up from your hotel to Shimoni. Shimoni in Kiswahili means the
place of the cave (a historical site used as a shrine and a hiding place for keeping slaves
before shipment to Zanzibar).Tea, coffee and biscuits are offered on the dhow whilst you are being fully briefed. The crew will individually assess you on your experience, and personally fit you with a suitable mask, snorkel, and fins if you prefer to use them. We are the ONLY dhow operator to provide FINS and PRESCRIPTION MASKS (-3 to -9)! There are buoyancy jackets, twin valve snorkels with comfit mouthpieces, for easier snorkelling and a wide range of silicone masks. We also provide underwater cameras for hire.
Our crew have been with us for years and are well experienced with the fitting of snorkelling
equipment. They will personally escort you along the reef. Safety is our main priority to make
sure you have an enjoyable day. It is a wonderful learning experience for beginners and non
swimmers. Hold on to the life ring and one of the marine guides will happily pull you around!
DOLPHINS are seen on a regular basis. Some have even had the luck to swim with them. As members of the Whale and Dolphin Society and International Dolphin Watch we are careful to follow the "Code of Conduct" to ensure the dolphins are not chased, harassed, or put under stress. Snorkellers have also been lucky enough to see whales and whale sharks but there is also plenty of other marine life to see.
You will visit two snorkelling sites weather permitting and depending on the tide you may see the
famous sand island. Refreshments will be provided including fresh fruit and our famous home baked
pizza bread. After snorkelling we head back to the private home of Selina and Harm on Wasini Island for a late lunch .
This will truly be a meal to remember served by smiling Swahili ladies, with white wine and beer.
You have time to relax over tea, coffee and patisserie. After lunch you can do some bird watching
or look up anything you have seen in our comprehensive marine library whilst overlooking the ocean in our 'Day Dreamer's Lounge'. Far from the maddening crowd!
Return to Shimoni is by sail (weather permitting). You will then have time to visit the cave |
